SCDC Holds Annual Meeting

SCDC sheldon chamber door signSheldon, Iowa — About 70 Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation members, and their employees, were on hand Friday noon for the organization’s Annual Meeting and Luncheon.

2017 SCDC President Kevin Cain talked about the organization’s top five priorities for 2017.  That list includes:  supporting the City of Sheldon in finding a great Crossroads Pavillion manager and promoting the facility; Complete a website overhaul for the SCDC/City of Sheldon; Acquire light industrial ground; Promote affordable housing construction; and Continue to improve the Highway 18 and Business 60 corridors.

We talked with Sheldon Development Director Curt Strouth who looked back at some of the SCDC’s accomplishments in 2016.

In addition, Strouth cited the groundbreaking for the new events center, along with business expansions.

He also talked about the growth in activities of the Sheldon Chamber during 2016.

Strouth also gave us a sneak peak at what 2017 has in store for the community.

In addition, Strouth says the Crossroads Pavilion is scheduled to be substantially complete by September 1st of this year, and there are plans to update the City/SCDC website to make it more user friendly.

Friday’s Annual Meeting and Luncheon was held in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
