Senator Chuck Grassley To Attend Dordt Dedication

Sioux Center, Iowa — Iowa’s senior US Senator, Chuck Grassley, is scheduled to speak at the Dordt Agriculture Stewardship Center in Sioux Center this coming Saturday, October 29th, at 11 am.

Grassley’s speech is part of the dedication of three buildings recently conducted at the Dordt Agriculture Stewardship Center. The buildings that were recently constructed include the monoslope building, the greenhouse, and the commodity storage building. The monoslope building gives students a large lab space to work with live animals such as cattle. The greenhouse is a three-season greenhouse, and will allow agriculture students and faculty to start planting from seed early in the spring and maintain them throughout the growing season. The commodity storage building will be used to store feed for the animals.

According to Grassley’s website, he began growing corn and soybeans at an early age, and he is one of only two active farmers in the US Senate today.

Senator Grassley is the longest-serving US Senator in Iowa history, having served as one of Iowa’s US Senators since 1981. Before serving in the US Senate, Grassley served in the Iowa State Legislature, as well as the US House of Representatives.

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is expected to also speak at the dedication. The public is invited to attend the dedication and tour the facilities that will be provided following the presentation. Both Senator Grassley and Secretary Naig are up for reelection this year.
