Senator Hopes Budget Gap Doesn’t Destroy Tax Reform

Randy Feenstra 2Des Moines, Iowa — One of this area’s state senators says that right now, he has two goals that he says at first glance appear to contradict each other — making spending cuts, and cutting taxes.

Senator Randy Feenstra, who represents Sioux, O’Brien, Cherokee, and portions of Plymouth county tells us that the budget cuts are mandatory.

Feenstra says he realizes that the two goals are polar opposites.

He says also that the spending cuts are short-term, while the tax cuts he hopes to make would be long-term.

He says that means you have people that win if they have a reduction or lose if they don’t. He says they want to make a fairer system. He says he and his colleagues also want to lower taxes for each person.
