September Warmer And Wetter Than Normal

Sheldon, Iowa — While there have been some cool, dry days in recent weeks, September actually turned out to be warmer and wetter than normal….if only just a bit.

According to the Official Weather Statistics as compiled by KIWA Radio, September’s average high temperature was 77-degrees. This compares to a normal average high of 74-degrees. In addition, our average low temperature for September, 2017 was 51-degrees, 3-degrees warmer than the average low of 49-degrees.

Comparing September, 2017 to September, 2016, we find the warmer trend continues, at least for high temps. This year’s average September high of 77 was 2-degrees warmer than the September, 2016 average of 75-degrees. As for average low temperatures, September, 2016’s average low was actually 3-degrees WARMER than this year, at 52-degrees.

As for precipitation, we received 3.15-inches of precip at the KIWA Studios during September, 2017, which is .10-inch above the normal of 3.05-inches.

The temperatures and precipitation figures used are an average of the high and low temperatures, as well as precipitation, since weather records began to be kept in Sheldon, more than 120 years ago.
