Severe Weather Awareness Classes Coming To NCC Monday & Tuesday

Sheldon, Iowa — Despite the forecast, it IS Spring in northwest Iowa, and with Spring comes severe weather season. If you’d like to learn more about severe weather, there’s a class coming up that might be of interest to you.

A Sky Warn class will be held Monday and Tuesday at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon. Todd Heitkamp of the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says there will be three separate sessions Monday and Tuesday.

Heitkamp says these sessions are not JUST for weather spotters.

He talks about some of the things you’ll learn during the training.

When we think of severe weather, we normally think of tornadoes, but Heitkamp says tornadoes aren’t the only severe weather threat that people need to be aware of.

Again, those classes are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday evenings (April 9th & 10th) at 7:00 pm, as well as Tuesday afternoon at 1:30, all at Northwest Iowa Community College in Sheldon, and are free to attend.
