Sheldon, Iowa — This is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Iowa. Each day this week, the National Weather Service is focusing on a different severe weather topic.
Thursday’s topic is family preparedness. National Weather Service Warning Coordination Meteorologist Peter Rogers from the Sioux Falls office says now is the time to get your plan worked out and tested.
He says if you live in a mobile home, they’re not safe in a tornado — find a nearby safe building in which to take shelter.
