Sheldon, Iowa — The recipients of the 2023 Sheldon Homecoming Scholarship have been announced.
According to Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation executive director Curt Strouth, Dominic Seivert and Avery Van Holland were the winners of the 2023 Homecoming Scholarships. He tells us Seivert and Van Holland both met all of the eligibility requirements and impressed the committee with their love of Sheldon and desire to see the community thrive.
The committee tells us each Homecoming Scholarship is a $6,000 scholarship that goes directly toward the winner’s student loan debt. It is awarded to an individual who lived in the 51201 zip code when they graduated from an area high school, has or will graduate from a two- or four-year college, has accepted an offer for a position in Sheldon, lives within the city limits of Sheldon and has student loan debt of more than $6,000.
They tell us that Van Holland graduated from Western Christian in 2015, went on to Trinity Chrisitan College in Chicago, and then attended The University of Iowa College of Law where she graduated in 2022. She is now an Associate Attorney at Heidman Law Firm.
The committee says Seivert is a 2017 Sheldon High graduate. He went on to continue his education at Northwestern College where he graduated in 2022. He is currently an Ag Loan Representative at Northwestern Bank. Seivert is also completing an online graduate program through Drake University where he plans to obtain his Master of Business Administration degree.
The committee tells us they had “a great pool of applicants this year and are excited to continue this scholarship.”
