Sheldon City Council To Hold Public Hearing On Budget Wednesday Afternoon

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will hold two meetings this Wednesday. The first one, at 4:15 p.m. is the Property Tax Levy Public Hearing. At the hearing, any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy. After the hearing, the council will publish notice and hold a hearing on the proposed city budget.

At 4:30 p.m., the regular meeting will start. Among the items on the consent agenda are the acknowledgment of the issuance of Request for Proposal for FY24, FY25 & FY26 audits, the approval of a Special (temporary) Class C Retail Alcohol license for Sweet Puddle Jumpers, the approval of Class E Retail Alcohol License Renewal for Stammer Liquor, the approval of a Class C retail alcohol license for Breu Haus, and the approval of Liquor License Renewal for La Pasada Mexican Restaurant & Bar. Also on the consent agenda is a resolution authorizing report on voluntary annexation (Sioux County) to the Iowa State Treasurer, and a resolution approving an Engagement Agreement with Ahlers & Cooney, P.C. regarding the Consolidated Urban Revitalization Plan. If no council member objects, all these items will be voted on in a single motion.

The only item on the council’s new business docket is to vote on setting April 17th as the public hearing date for the full budget adoption.

Both meetings will be held in the Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center in the 400 block of 9th Street, downtown.
