Sheldon, Iowa — Thursday (May 13) is Cleanup Day in Sheldon. As usual, the Sheldon Marketing Committee is happy to accept the public’s help to clean up Sheldon and showcase the community, especially with the special summer events coming up.
We talked to Sheldon Chamber Director Shantel Oostra, who tells us what’s happening.
Sheldon Marketing Chairperson Heidi Brown says the areas that are to be cleaned up include spring cleaning and landscaping help at the Prairie Arts Center, clean-up of Downtown Park, trash pick-up on the entrance and exit ramps of Highway 60, trimming of the bushes and trees at City Park, weeding and trimming of berms at City Park (which is an all-summer, adopt-a-park situation), trash pick-up at Thorman Park, planting flowers in the planters at Thorman Park, and trash pick-up along the railroad tracks around Hills Park.
Oostra says if you see something that needs attention, feel free to clean it up.
If you still want to help, Oostra says you can give her a call at the SCDC Office and she will try to match you up with a project. Call 324-2813.
