Sheldon Clean-Up Week Starts Monday

Sheldon, Iowa — The deadline to sign up for Sheldon’s annual clean-up week has passed, and City Manager Sam Kooiker has provided KIWA with an update on the event.

Kooiker reports that the City has sold 300 virtual flags and 269 appliance and electronic stickers for the 2020 City-sponsored clean-up. Kooiker says that the total virtual flags sold was down a bit from last year’s flag sales, but the purchase of appliance and electronics stickers is up some thirteen percent from 2019. In 2018, the City sold 220 flags and 120 appliance and electronics stickers.

Pick-up will begin this coming Monday, September 14th and will continue through most of the week, according to Kooiker.

If you purchased a virtual flag your items must be placed curbside by 7:00 am Monday, but Kooiker says please do NOT place anything curbside earlier than tomorrow evening (Friday, September 11th), and no items will be picked up on the alleys. He said once the city crew goes past your house, you will not be allowed to deposit more items.
