Trick Or Treat Hike In Oak Grove Park

Hawarden, Iowa — Fall fun is coming to Oak Grove Park thanks to the Sioux County Conservation Board bringing the Trick or Treat hike.

The annual Trick or Treat Hike is being held on October 10th from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. Sunday Ford, Sioux County Conservation Board’s assistant director, and environmental education coordinator gave information that residents need to know to participate.

(as said) “The Campers will all be in Deer Run Campground at their sites, and they’ll hand out candy to kids age 12 and under that are dressed in costume, and we are hoping that, as usual, we have great weather and that families can come out and enjoy the fall colors, and get to walk around and see costumes that way.”

Campers must register before if they wish to hand out candy to children.

(as said) “The actual trick or treaters don’t have to sign up at all, the campers do.” Says Ford, “For a camper to register they need to call (712) 552-1047 starting at 8 am on September 14th, and they may sign themselves up and one other camper.”

Camping space is limited to 38 spots, so if residents want to sign up, they better do it fast. It should also be known that campers must wear gloves and hand out candy and trick or treaters can not reach inside camper’s candy bag. Ford also wants people to know where to go to look to see if the event has been canceled.

(as said) “The only reason we would cancel is because of weather, and we can broadcast that on KIWA as well, and then that would be, you know, if people were wondering, with the weather, what we were doing that’s where they can listen to it.”

Ford hopes for a good crowd to attend.
