Sheldon, Iowa — As of now the Sheldon Community Schools have eight snow days to make up.
Sheldon Community School District Superintendent Cory Myer sent out an e-mail to all parents explaining that a plan has been developed in order to make up these snow days. According to the plan, Wednesdays will be full days of school, instead of letting out early. This will allow the first five snow days to be made up. If the plan passes a vote of the Board of Education, this will begin on January 18th.
The other three days will be made up on days that were scheduled as no-school days. The first make-up day will be January 16th, the second make-up day will be February 20th, and the third make-up day will be March 31st.
Winter is not finished yet, so there could be more days called off due to weather. The proposed plan allows for two more make-up days, which would be on May 26th and April 10th.
If all of the substitute days are used up and there are even more days that need to be made up, the days will be tacked onto the end of the year.
This plan is pending official approval at the school board meeting, which will take place this Thursday, January 11th. If it becomes official, the Sheldon Community Schools will adopt the plan.
