Sheldon, Iowa — A conversation between the owner of a Sheldon trucking company, and a driver for a Hinton trucking company has led to one of the Sheldon company’s semi trailers being used to haul Christmas wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery as part of Wreaths Across America.
Jim Talsma of Sheldon is the owner of JT Trucking, and his daughter, April Schaeffer tells us more about the Wreaths Across America program.
April talks about how JT Trucking came to be a part of this annual event.
Schaeffer says Cody will be leaving this weekend, pulling the JT Trucking trailer, heading for Columbia Falls, Maine, where the wreaths will be loaded Tuesday morning (December 10th). From there it’s on to Arlington National Cemetery.
She says one of the cool things about Wreaths Across America is that it’s an all volunteer operation.
The semi driven by Cody for Wreaths Across American will be one of 67 trucks delivering more than 264,000 wreaths to Arlington National Cemetery. Nationwide, more than 2.4 million wreaths will be delivered to 1600 National Cemeteries coast-to-coast. The Wreaths Across America mission is to remember, to honor and to teach.
Wreaths Across America is still in need of donations to buy the wreaths. For more information about Wreaths Across America, or to sponsor a wreath, you can visit their website at wreathsacrossamerica.org
