Sheldon Council Expected To Set Numerous Public Hearings At Wednesday’s Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets this Wednesday April 1st, they’ll set the date and time for several public hearings, including rezoning the Crossroads Pavilion area and the area to the north of it from Agricultural to Arterial Commercial. Also, rezoning the former Sunset Motel Property, and several amendments to the zoning code. The council is expected to set these hearings for their April 15th meeting.

In other business the council will act on the resignation of Lori Letner Anderson from the Parks Board, and hear the Annual Report from O’Brien County Economic Development.

In his report to the council for this meeting, City Manager Sam Kooiker explains that a letter will be sent in the city utility billing, concerning the requirement for standardized garbage cans.  This new rule will become effective July 1st. He is also expected to report to the council that, due to the Covid-19 virus the city has suspended their program of updating water meters and, at this time, are not cutting off service for non-payment.  He is also expected to report that thirteen applications have been received for the Assistant Pavilion General Manager position.

Wednesday afternoon’s Sheldon City Council meeting begins at 4:30 in the upper level of the Sheldon Community Services Center.
