Sheldon Council To Hold Pair Of Public Hearings At Wednesday Meeting

Sheldon, Iowa — When the Sheldon City Council meets in regular session Wednesday afternoon they’ll hold a pair of public hearings.

Both public hearings have to do with the redevelopment of the site that was formerly the home to Bethel Reformed Church. Bethel’s church building, which was heavily damaged in a September, 2016 fire, was razed earlier this year and the site, which lies on the north side of 7th Street between 6th and 7th Avenue, has been slated for residential development.

In other action, the Council is scheduled to hold the 1st Reading of an Ordinance Amendment concerning the City’s consumer fireworks ordinance, approve a grant agreement with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources on a grant for the Crossroads Trail Project, and take up a request for the Sheldon Community Schools for a Homecoming Parade.

The Council may enter into a closed session during the meeting for the purchase of discussing a potential real estate purchase.

Wednesday’s meeting of the Sheldon City Council is scheduled to be called to order at 4:30 pm in Council Chambers of the Sheldon Community Services Center. The meeting is open to the public. If you can’t attend in person, you can watch the proceedings via YouTube Live.
