Sheldon Council To Meet TUESDAY This Week

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon City Council will meet in regular session TUESDAY afternoon this week instead of the normal Wednesday meeting. That schedule change is due to Thursday’s Independence Day holiday.

The Council will have several items of business before them on this first meeting of the new fiscal year. Among the agenda items is a request to cover the cost of a June 5th sewer backup at a home on 11th Street. They’re also expected to consider a resolution confirming a Memorandum of Understanding with Sanford on drug discounts for indigent patients.

In other action, the Council is set to approve mayoral appointments to several city boards and commissions during their Tuesday meeting. The Council is also expected to view a presentation on the Crossroads Park plan from Mike Bell of RDG Planning and Design.

Bethel Church has requested they be allowed to close 7th Street between 6th and 7th Avenues on September 11th, and the Council is expected to give their approval at Tuesday’s meeting.

This week’s Sheldon City Council meeting will take place Tuesday at 4:30 in Council Chambers at the Sheldon Community Services Center.
