Sheldon, Iowa — The granddaughter of a Sheldon couple, a Pentagon employee who had been stationed in Kabul Afghanistan, has made it out of that country safely.
Shannon Lawson is the granddaughter of Otto and Darlene Lawson of Sheldon. Her grandfather tells us that Shannon caught one of the last flights out of Kabul on Sunday.
Lawson says Shannon isn’t a member of the military, but does work for the U.S. Government, and was sent oversees for what was to have been a six-month assignment.
Lawson says his family is happy and relieved that Shannon was able to get out of Kabul, and look forward to her return to the United States.
