Curt Strouth

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon’s Development Director is taking a job in another community.

After 9+ years as the Community Development Director of the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation (SCDC), Curt Strouth tells us he will be transitioning from the position effective July 21st, 2023. Strouth began working for the City in 2012 as the City Recreation Director and has since served as the Community Development Director for SCDC since January of 2014.

Strouth says he has been selected as the next President/CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation which is the regional economic development agency for Dickinson, Clay, Emmet, and Buena Vista Counties.

SCDC Board President Justin Jonas says, “We are very grateful for Curt’s leadership at SCDC for the past 9+ years as we have celebrated a lot of growth during that time. We are sad to see him transition, but we extend our congratulations to him and his family and wish them the best in the next phase of his career.”

Strouth says, “The leadership that I have been blessed with during my time has been nothing short of amazing and Sheldon is in a position of continued growth going forward. I have always said that successful community growth takes trust, collaboration, and partnerships and I have been blessed to have all of those in place at a high level during my time here.”

During Strouth’s tenure the City of Sheldon celebrated many accomplishments including the construction of Crossroads Pavilion Event Center, 6.25% population growth according to the 2020 census, Prairie Trail Village Multi-Family housing project, Cobblestone Inn & Suites hotel, the construction of Sheldon Crossroads Travel Plaza, and numerous other industrial and business expansion projects.

Strouth will begin his new position at the Lakes Corridor in August.
