Sheldon FFA Has Success At District Convention

Sheldon, Iowa — Sheldon FFA members competed in various contests this past weekend during the District FFA Convention.

On Saturday, March 5th, 29 FFA members, along with their advisor, Mr. Jacob Fox, boarded a bus and traveled to Pocohantas for the District Convention.

According to Fox, students competed in various contests throughout the day, including the Greenhand FFA Quiz, the Chapter FFA Quiz, Meat Judging, Floriculture, Nursery/Landscape, Ag Mechanics, Experience the Action, Prepared Public Speaking, Creed Speaking, Parliamentary Procedure and Chapter Website.

Two Sheldon FFA students, Macade Holz and Ashley Schmidt, serve as district delegates, and were responsible for voting on district business and selecting the 2022-2023 Northwest District FFA Officers.

Fox says the kids did an awesome job and the Sheldon contingent found some success. He says Brady Van Meeteren was named the district champion in prepared public speaking and will compete at the state FFA leadership conference in April. Doug Nilles was named the champion Greenhand Quiz taker and will take the Greenhand Quiz at state, along with Ella Holz who also received a gold on the quiz. Mariel Feekes received a Gold and was named 3rd place, alternate to state in chapter website. The website she created can be viewed by CLICKING HERE.

In addition, Fox says the chapter Experience the Action team consisting of Adison Beckman, Alison Wolf, Conner Klein, Ella Holz, Hailey Dobbins, and Jayla Pritts also received a Gold and was named 3rd place, alternate to state.
