Sheldon, Iowa — It’s Fire Prevention Week in the United States, and the Sheldon Fire Company is marking the week with some fun and beneficial activities, as usual.
Sheldon Assistant Fire Chief Brad Hindt tells us about their annual Fun Night which is scheduled for this Thursday evening, October 7th.
Hindt tells us that the timing other years with the movie at the theater had been different, but they had to adjust it earlier this year, because there was to be a new movie released that night, so the theater had to be available for the new movie when it was released.
Hindt tells us they are also visiting students in the Sheldon schools and talking about fire safety during Fire Prevention Week. He says they started Monday.
The theme for this week’s Fire Prevention Week, according to the National Fire Protection Association, is “Learn the Sounds of Fire Safety!” They tell is they are working to educate everyone about the different sounds that smoke and carbon monoxide alarms make. Knowing what to do when an alarm sounds will keep you and your family safe. When an alarm makes noises – a beeping sound or a chirping sound – you must take action.
