Sheldon Middle School Band Students Selected for NWIBA 7th & 8th Grade Honor Bands

Sheldon, Iowa —  This past Saturday, October 13th, more than 330 seventh and eighth grade band students from 41 northwest Iowa schools auditioned for a position in two honor bands.   Approximately 190 students were chosen.

Sheldon Middle School Band Director Jeana Larson says several of her musicians were among those who auditioned.

She says six of the Sheldon musicians were selected to participate in the 51st annual Northwest Iowa Bandmasters Association Junior High/Middle School Bands Festival.

In addition, one Orab musician, Kaden Kamstra, received a very special, personal honor.

For those of you wondering, a euphonium is also known as a baritone.

The students selected will perform a concert at Storm Lake High School at 6:00pm on Saturday, November 3rd. The All-Iowa Honor Band, including Sheldon’s Kaden Kamstra, will perform during the Iowa Bandmasters Association Conference in Des Moines next May.
