Sheldon Pastor And Family Accept A Call To A Montana Church

Sheldon, Iowa — A pastor who has served his Sheldon church in two different positions is leaving to take the pastorate of a church in Kalispell, Montana.

Pastor Craig Nissen has served St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon as pastor since May, 2012. He also served the church as Youth Minister from 1999 to 2004. Nissen says while there’s never a good time to make a move, he and his wife thought now to be their window of opportunity.

Pastor Nissen says they discovered an opportunity in Montana.

He said the Montana church seemed like it would be a good fit.

Nissen joked that it didn’t hurt that the opportunity was in a beautiful part of the country.

He says that, while he and his family are excited about their new adventure, this is also a bittersweet time for them, since they have made many friends in Sheldon, and this is a great town, a great place to live. He says as a pastor there is never a good time to leave a congregation.

Kalispell is a community of about 23,000 people, which is located in northwest Montana, just outside the west entrance to Glacier National Park.

Pastor Nissen has wrapped up his duties at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sheldon, and he and his family will be leaving for Montana within the next several days.
