Sheldon Schools Receive $100,000 Grant For Mental Health Services

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Community School District is one of 64 schools from around the state of Iowa who will be receiving federal coronavirus funding for mental health services.

Sheldon Superintendent Cory Myer tells us about that grant.

Myer says the District is very excited about being awarded the grant.

While there no specific plans at the moment, Myer says the District did identify some areas of focus in their grant application.

He says the Sheldon School District had originally applied for a larger grant than the amount awarded.

In addition to Sheldon Community Schools, other northwest Iowa schools to be awarded grants include: Cherokee received $53,000; Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn will get $38,000; Remsen-Union was awarded $30,000; Spencer and Spirit Lake will each receive $100,000; with Storm Lake being awarded a $184,000 grant.
