Sioux Center, Iowa– A Sioux Center man was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sioux Center on Friday, June 10, 2016.
The Sioux Center Police Department reports that about 12:42 PM, 26-year-old Kyle Van Holland of Sioux Center was driving a 2009 Ford pickup eastbound on 20th Street Southeast on Sioux Center’s south side. Fifty-two year-old Jonathan Heie of Sioux Center was northbound on Highway 75 on a 2012 Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The report says that Heie was in the outside lane. It says Van Holland struck the Heie motorcycle as Van Holland attempted to cross Highway 75. The report says Van Holland told the officer that he had stopped at the intersection and after a semi and trailer drove through, he proceeded to cross the intersection and didn’t see the motorcycle.
The Sioux Center Ambulance took Heie to Sioux Center Health Hospital.
Van Holland’s Ford pickup sustained $2000 in damages, and Heie’s Harley Davidson Motorcycle sustained $5000 in damages.
Van Holland was charged with failure to yield from a stop sign.
