Sioux Center Man Sentenced To Suspended Jail Term, Probation For Indecent Contact With Child

Sioux Center, Iowa – A Sioux Center man has been sentenced for indecent contact with a child.

Sioux County Attorney Thomas Kunstle reports that 49-year-old Donald Lee Kirkbride of Sioux Center was sentenced last week for the crime of Indecent Contact With A Child, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

Kunstle says court documents alleged that on September 21, 2023, Kirkbride was observed by a third party, having inappropriate contact with a juvenile at his home. The contact occurred over the juvenile’s clothing. Kunstle says the crime wasn’t reported to authorities until September 29, when Sioux Center Police conducted their investigation. Within that investigation, Kunstle says Kirkbride admitted to having some inappropriate contact with the victim.

Last week, Kirkbride pleaded guilty to Indecent Contact With a Child, and was ordered to serve 365 days in the Sioux County Jail which was all suspended. Kirkbride was ordered to register as a sex offender for a period of 10 years, and must pay criminal fines, be supervised by a specialized sex offender probation officer for a period of 10 years, submit a sample of his DNA to a state database, have no contact with the victim, and obtain a psychosexual evaluation, successfully complying with any recommendations.
