Sioux Center Woman Arrested After Brief Standoff With Police

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center woman was arrested early Tuesday afternoon following a brief standoff at a rural Sioux Center residence.

Sioux County authorities say the incident began when deputies went to 2767 400th Street, three miles west of Sioux Center in an attempt to serve an arrest warrant for Failure To Appear For Sentencing on 39-year old Kamie Schiebout of Sioux Center. Authorities say Schiebout was seen inside the residence by the responding deputies, but refused to come to the door.

According to authorities, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office then called out its Tri-County CERT, which is a combined emergency response team made up of officers from the Sioux, Plymouth and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Offices, as well as Le Mars and Cherokee Police Departments.

Deputies say that after negotiations with the people inside the home failed, the CERT Team made entry into the residence and reportedly discovered Schiebout hiding under a pickup bed parked inside the garage of the residence. Authorities say she was then arrested and booked into the Sioux County Jail, where, according to jail booking records, she is being held without bail.
