Sioux County Jail Named One Of The Best In Iowa

Orange City, Iowa — One of the jails in our area has been honored as one of the best in the state.

According to Sioux County Sheriff’s Office personnel, the Sioux County Jail has been named the recipient of a prestigious award from the Iowa Department of Corrections, recognizing the Sioux County Jail as being one of the best midsized jails in the State of Iowa.

They tell us the award was the result of a nomination from the Iowa State Jail Inspector. The State Jail Inspector conducts annual inspections on all of Iowa’s jail facilities. This award is given to jails who are the best of the best and have gone above and beyond their mandated requirements set by the State of Iowa.

Sioux County Sheriff’s Lt. Jason Bergsma and Sioux County Jail Commander Judy Plendl traveled to the Iowa State Sheriff’s and Deputies Winter Conference in Des Moines where they were presented with the award. Lt. Bergsma says, “We want to recognize and congratulate all of our Sioux County Jail Correctional Officers for their part in doing great work leading to this honorable achievement.”
