Sioux County Sheriff’s Collects 27 Pounds Of Drugs For National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Sioux County, Iowa — Saturday, October 24th was National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day and the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office took part.

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office has a ‘MedReturn’ collection box located in its public lobby. This box serves as a place where residents can deposit their unwanted and unused prescription drugs.

On this year’s day, The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office reports, that approximately 27.4 pounds of drugs were put in the MedReturn collection box, and then, was picked up by the United States Drug Enforcement Administration for disposal.

Captain Jamie Van Voorst commented, “The Take Back Day, as well as having our medication deposit box available all year, provides citizens a convenient opportunity to safely dispose of any unused or unwanted prescription medications; we hope this can help prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.”

The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office wants residents to know that the MedReturn box is open 24/7/365.
