Spencer, Iowa — A Spencer chiropractor has agreed to pay more than $62,000 to resolve allegations that she improperly billed Medicaid for medically unnecessary procedures, and for the treatment of conditions for which payment is not allowed.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa, Dr. Elizabeth Kressin caused the submission of the improper claims from January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2015.
U.S. Attorney Kevin Teschau says that the allegations resolved by the settlement arose from an investigation led by the Department of Health and Human Resources and initiated by the State of Iowa’s Medicaid Program Integrity Unit. He says that the claims settled by the agreement are allegations only, and that Dr. Kressin neither admitted, nor was determined in court, to be liable.
