Sports Betting Operations In Larchwood & Burlington Fined For Download Violation

Larchwood, Iowa — Two sports betting companies have agreed to penalties from state regulators for violations involving the self-ban gambling rules, according to Racing and Gaming administrator Brian Ohorilko.

Betfred Sports handles the sports betting for the Grand Falls Casino in Larchwood, and was fined for failing to update the self-ban list into their system within the required seven days.

(As above) “In this particular situation they had an employee that was responsible for downloading that did the download a day early — and then subsequently the following week was late with the download,” according to Ohorilko.

Ohorilko says the download of the banned list is important to prevent anyone on the list from receiving promotional materials, or being allowed to gamble.

(As above) “It was something that was an oversight, but nevertheless it did not occur within seven days. It was a first offense violation for BetFred and they also received an administrative penalty in the amount of five thousand dollars.

In addition to Grand Falls Casino, the Catfish Bend Casino in Burlington, along with their sports betting partner, Points Bet, was fined for a similar infraction.
