St. Patrick’s School Celebrating Catholic Schools Week

Sheldon, Iowa — This week, January 30 through February 5, is Catholic Schools Week, with St. Patrick’s School in Sheldon celebrating all week long.

KIWA talked to St. Patrick’s principal Jessica Schmalen Wednesday and she told us that Catholic Schools Week is almost like a Homecoming for St. Patrick’s students and staff.

Schmalen says the students and staff at St. Patrick’s School celebrate a different topic each day during Catholic Schools Week. The celebrations kicked off Sunday, with the theme, “Celebrating Your Parish.” Monday was Celebrating Vocations Day” at St. Patrick’s

Tuesday “Faculty and Staff” were celebrated, with Wednesday set aside for “Celebrating Your Community.”

Thursday’s theme is “Celebrating the Nation”, Friday it will be “Celebrating Your Students”, and Catholic Schools Week will wrap up on Saturday with the theme “Celebrating Families.” Mrs. Schmalen tells us about Thursday’s activities.

St. Patrick’s Catholic School in Sheldon is a Preschool through 8th Grade school comprised of students from Sheldon and surrounding towns whose parents choose a Catholic-based education for their children.
