State Approves Development Incentives For Milford Plant

Milford, Iowa — A Milford manufacturing facility that formerly housed a Polaris Industries plant will be getting a new lease on life following an announcement by the Iowa Economic Development Authority, or IEDA.

The IEDA board has approved state development funding for Liberty Diversified International (LDI) for a project in Milford. Economic Development Authority spokesperson, Brooke Miller, says the award will help the company’s Safco Products subsidiary, which makes furniture, paper, packaging and other office products.

LDI will be bringing some much-needed jobs to the Iowa Great Lakes area, after Polaris cut their workforce earlier this year.

The building L-D-I is purchasing sits at the south end of Milford on Highway 71, and used to house the Polaris plant, which Polaris officials announced in April they were closing down.

The company plans to spend some $15-million on the entire project.
