Iowa Great Lakes — The Iowa Great Lakes area is a great place to spend time in the summer. But the area is also very popular among those who enjoy indoor and outdoor winter recreation — especially during the University of Okoboji Winter Games, going on now through the weekend.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Vince Kurtz tells us that there will be an increased number of troopers out during this time.
He tells us that the State Patrol has received some extra funding for events such as this.
Trooper Kurtz says that troopers will not only be in the Lakes area.
Winter Games organizers tell us they’re happy the area received the recent snowfall. They say there will be everything from broomball to snowmobiles; flag football to a pub crawl, softball to a chili cook-off, and a polar plunge to fireworks, plus much more.
