Summit Carbon Solutions Files With IUB To Expand It’s Proposed Pipeline By 340 Miles

Undated — Summit Carbon Solutions is increasing its request for carbon pipeline across Iowa to add another 340 miles of pipeline. That’s in addition to the 687 miles already requested.

They have filed the new request with the Iowa Utilities Board and plan to hold public meetings in 22 counties, if approved. The addition would allow for the connection of Poet and Valero plants. Those two companies recently announced their involvement with the Summit Carbon Solutions project.

The proposed route would go through a number of counties in northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota, including Lyon, O’Brien, and Sioux. Those opposed to the proposed project have expressed concern over potential environmental issues, public safety, and the possible use of eminent domain.
