Sutherland, Iowa — Sheldon’s not the only town with a celebration this weekend. Sutherland and Hawarden both have Labor Day Weekend celebrations as well.
In Sutherland, it starts on Saturday when there’s a 5K run and walk, a bean bag tournament, and a concert event called “SUTHERSLAM.”
Sunday’s events include a worship service in the city park, a tractor ride, a cruise-in car show & shine, a burnout contest, a car and bike cruise and fun run, a beer garden, a pork loin supper, and a street dance.
On Labor Day Monday, they’ll start with a sausage and pancake breakfast fundraiser for Noah’s Ark Day Care. There will be a craft fair, a parade, Willoway will serve burritos and rice bowls, there’ll be creamed turkey and biscuits at the Methodist Church, hot dogs and burgers in the park by the masonic lodge, a volleyball tournament, a bean bag tournament, kids’ water fights and bucket brigade, a saddle club fun day and horse show and kids races for all ages.
All of that and more is this weekend in Sutherland. Click here for the schedule.
