Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Education Association, the union representing the teachers in the Sheldon Community School District, presented their initial Collective Bargaining Proposal to the District’s Board of Education earlier this week.
In the proposal, the union asks for a 5.16-percent increase in salary and benefits, including a 10-percent increase in the cost of the District’s contribution to the teacher’s health insurance premiums. The proposal asked for an increase in that amount from nearly $67-hundred dollars to more than $74-hundred.
The proposal also included some changes in wording from last year’s contract on topics of sick leave, funeral leave, and pay periods. You can view the union’s Opening Proposal in it’s entirety by clicking here.
In other, unrelated news from the Sheldon Community Schools, the District’s Board of Education will meet in special session Thursday morning (January 12th) at 8:15 am in the high school Board Room. The lone agenda item involves a resignation.
That meeting, again, is Thursday morning at 8:15.
