Ten New COVID Cases Reported In Area On Monday

Northwest Iowa — Ten new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Monday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

There were five new cases in Lyon County, three new cases in O’Brien County, and one each in both Sioux and Osceola counties. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since that time.

The death toll for the area remains at 169 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 65 in Sioux County, 37 in Lyon County, and 12 in Osceola County.

Out of the 1,415 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,296 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 92% .
Out of the 4,665 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,433 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 95% .
Out of the 1,754 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,613 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 92% .
Out of the 656 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 618 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 94% .

Osceola County currently has 26 active cases, down one from Friday. There were 87 in O’Brien County, which is up five, and 82 in Lyon County, which is down seven from Friday. Sioux County has 166 active cases, which is down 14 from Friday.
