Northwest Iowa — Alone for Thanksgiving and not wanting to be alone?
Some area communities are preparing and serving Thanksgiving meals so people who will be alone for Thanksgiving don’t have to be.
Rock Rapids has their 20th Annual Community Thanksgiving Meal on November 24th at the First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids. They will start serving at noon. If you would like a meal please RSVP by calling the Chamber at (712) 472-3456 or the First Reformed Church office at (712) 472-3729 today. RSVP can also be made online at bit.ly/RRCommThanksgiving. Meals are available in person, for delivery or pick up. If you don’t have a ride let them know when you call and arrangements can be made.
The Sibley First Presbyterian Church will be having a Thanksgiving Meal on November 24th at noon. Jackie Kannegieter tells KIWA what they will be serving at the meal.
She says there is no need to RSVP as they will have plenty of food available. Kannegieter says this meal is open for anyone who finds themselves alone this holiday.
There will be no pick up meals available as Kannegieter says the purpose of this meal is for people who are alone to spend time with other people.
A lot of communities have not gotten back to holding their meals due to Covid-19. If your community isn’t listed it may not be a bad idea to reach out to the chamber or to your church and find out if that is the reason.
