Northwest Iowa — While the KIWA listening area escaped most of the damage, severe storms that rumbled across northwest Iowa last night did some hail damage to crops in nearby areas.
In western Plymouth County near Akron, farmers are reporting hail damage to their crops. Akron farmer Randy Krosch says his crops were hit hard.
He says there are reports of hail all over that area.
Although his crops sustained major hail damage, Krosch doesn’t believed they were totaled.
Krosch says if the corn survives the disease threats, it’s still not known how far it will develop.
Further south, in some areas of Woodbury County, so much hail fell that it formed drifts resembling snowdrifts.
