Trooper Advises Caution On The Roads During Holiday Travel

Statewide Iowa — Expect to see an increased presence of law enforcement on the roadways over the Thanksgiving holiday period.

The Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau is once again teaming up with law enforcement agencies across the state to promote safety with the theme “buckle up, every trip, every time.”

Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kevin Krull says there will be lots of vehicles on the road and everybody wants to get home.

He says there will be more law enforcement officers on the roads to help keep people safe.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office went so far as — even though recreational marijuana use is illegal in Iowa — to post that you should “hand over the keys if you’re going to pass around the weed.”

Trooper Krull also advises that if you’re going on a trip — to plan ahead.

Experts also say now is the time to put the ice scrapers, snow brushes, and winter survival kits in your cars, as you never know when you might need them. A car jump starter and jumper cables may not be a bad idea either.
