Trooper Kurtz: Watch Out For Kids Heading Back-To-School

Northwest Iowa — With back-to-school time just around the corner, Iowa State Patrol Trooper Vince Kurtz says motorists need to pay attention to avoid a potential tragedy.

Trooper Kurts reminds us that those big yellow buses will be taking to the roads soon, and motorists need to remember the rules for interacting with a school bus.

Kurtz says passing a stopped school bus with its lights flashing and stop arm extended carries stiff penalties.

He says motorists need to keep a sharp eye out for students who are going to, or coming from, school.

Trooper Kurtz reminds motorists to be alert and watch out for children, and urges children to pay attention and watch out for vehicles.
