TV Documentary Based On The 1973 Gitchie Manitou Murders Will Air Saturday

Northwest Iowa — A best-selling true crime book about a 1973 quadruple murder and the abduction and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl that took place in Lyon County, will be the feature of an episode of a nationally broadcast TV show this Saturday evening.

The true-crime book, Gitchie Girl, which was written about the 1973 murders and abduction at Gitchie Manitou State Park in Lyon County, was released in 2016 and was a number one national best-seller, was penned by Phil Hamman and his wife Sandy, who now live in Sioux City. The documentary show Killer Siblings will air an episode based on Gitchie Girl  this Saturday on the Oxygen Channel. Phil Hamman tells us more.

Hamman says in 1973, at the time of the murders, this area was a pretty sheltered environment and the quadruple murder at Gitchie Manitou shocked and scared everyone.

Hamman not only wrote the book the TV episode is based on, but actually knew all of the victims.

He relates his experiences with the filming for the episode of Killer Siblings.

The episode of Killer Siblings that is based upon Hamman’s best-seller Gitchie Girl is scheduled to air this Saturday night, November 14th at 5:00 pm Central Time on the Oxygen Channel.
