Twelve New COVID Cases Here Wednesday

Northwest Iowa — Twelve new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Wednesday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

O’Brien County reported seven new cases, Lyon County reported three. Sioux County reported two new cases, and there were no new cases in the 24-hour period for Osceola County. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020. Roughly one person in eight in this area has tested positive at some point since that time.

The death toll for the area remains at 167 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 64 in Sioux County, 37 in Lyon County, and 12 in Osceola County.

Out of the 1,402 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,263 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 90%.
Out of the 4,640 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,381 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 94%.
Out of the 1,736 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,584 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 91%.
Out of the 655 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 613 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 94%.

Osceola County currently has 30 active cases, down one. There were 98 in O’Brien County, which is down three, and 102 in Lyon County, which is down seven from the previous day. Sioux County has 195 active cases, which is down 19.
