UPDATE — Shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday, KIWA was informed by O’Brien County Public Health and O’Brien County Emergency Management that there had been an error somewhere. They advised that one of the cases they advised of earlier in the day was found to not actually live in O’Brien County. The female case apparently lives elsewhere.

Primghar, Iowa — Two [now one] additional cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) have been confirmed in O’Brien County, according to the O’Brien County Department of Public Health, bringing O’Brien County’s total number of cases to five [now four].
According to the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH), {one individual is an adult female in the age range of 41 to 60, and the individual is self-isolating at home. — EDITOR: This is the case that has been deleted from O’Brien County’s total} The second individual is an adult male in the age range of 41 to 60, and the individual is self-isolating at home. Three of the five [now four] confirmed COVID-19 cases have recovered.
“We encourage all residents to continue to make prevention a priority,” said O’Brien County Public Health Director, Judy Nieuwenhuis. These actions include washing hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time; covering coughs and sneezes with a tissue or elbow/upper arm; staying home when ill; social Distancing – avoiding close contact with others (at least six feet); and cleaning and disinfecting frequently-touched surfaces.
