Two New Deaths And 14 New Cases of COVID Here On Thursday

Northwest Iowa — Two new deaths and fourteen new cases of COVID-19 were reported in the four northwesternmost Iowa counties on Thursday, according to the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The two deaths were both residents of Sioux County. The death toll for the area is now at 157 since the pandemic began. The death totals are 54 in O’Brien County, 59 in Sioux County, 33 in Lyon County, and eleven in Osceola County.

There were four new cases in Lyon County and eight in Sioux County, O’Brien County and Osceola County reported one new case, each. About twelve percent of northwest Iowans have tested positive for COVID since March 2020.

Out of the 1,389 Lyon County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,238 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 89%.
Out of the 4,617 Sioux County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 4,288 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.
Out of the 1,720 O’Brien County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 1,551 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 90%.
Out of the 651 Osceola County residents who have tested positive for COVID-19, 606 of them have recovered, for a recovery rate of about 93%.

Osceola County currently has 34 active cases, which is down two. There were 115 in O’Brien County, which is down nine, and 118 in Lyon County, which is down seven. Sioux County has 270 active cases, down 8.
