Dickinson County, Iowa — The 42nd annual University of Okoboji Winter Games kicked off Thursday morning and will run through Sunday.
Thousand of visitors will descend on the Iowa Great Lakes for the four-day celebration and Trooper Kevin Krull says officers from the Iowa State Patrol will be there to take care of the influx of traffic.
With the large number of snowmobiles and ATVs that are expected this weekend. Krull reminds us that there are laws that must be obeyed in where and when you can ride your ATV or snowmobile.
In addition, Trooper Krull says ATVs may NOT be ridden on snowmobile trails.
He says ATVs may also be ridden on the ice.
Krull also reminds us that drunk driving laws extend to snowmobiles and ATVs, too.
Trooper Krull says that there are some areas of thin ice, and that NO ice is “safe ice.”
Have fun, but stay safe.
