Sheldon, Iowa — Week number six of the 2020 Sheldon United Fund drive saw donations lag a bit, with $500 in donations received.
Last week’s donations bring the drive total to $11,509, which leaves $18,491, still to be raised for the United Fund to reach its $30,000 goal for 2020. That means that to reach their goal of $30,000 for this year’s drive, an average of $2,642 would need to be donated each week until the drive ends at the end of next month.
This year’s Sheldon United Fund drive runs through the end of December, and will benefit twenty-five non-profits in Sheldon and surrounding communities, including:
Meals on Wheels are delivered to homes within the city limits of Sheldon. Meals on Wheels are prepared for clients who have a referral from the hospital identifying a need for the meal in the home.
Noah’s Ark Preschool primarily serves children ages 3 to 5 living in Sheldon and the surrounding areas of Archer, Ashton, Hospers and Matlock. The money is used to assist with outdoor space expenses, equipment costs and maintaining quality, as well as providing further training for staff.
NW Iowa Life Awareness Council is a non-profit organization working with Prevent Child Abuse Iowa. They promote family support and education on child abuse in O’Brien County.
Sheldon United Fund donations can be dropped off at Citizen’s State Bank, Iowa State Bank, Northwestern Bank, or Peoples Bank, all in Sheldon. Or you may mail your contribution to P.O. Box 41, Sheldon, Iowa 51201.
