Rock Rapids, Iowa — Among those facing pre-trial conferences in Lyon County District Court in Rock Rapids this Monday, September 19th are three defendants that have been in the news recently.
According to court records, Perry Vande Keift of Inwood, who’s charged with second degree sex abuse and Shannon and Shelia Nagel of George, who are both charged with possession of drugs with intent to deliver; are all scheduled for pre-trial conferences in their separate cases.
According to court records, 41-year-old Perry Vande Kieft of Inwood is accused of sexual contact with an 11-year-old girl in the spring of 2015 and again in February or March of this year at Vande Kieft’s home.
Charges against Vande Kieft include two counts of sexual abuse in the Second degree, which is a class B felony; as well as indecent contact with a child and possession of a controlled substance.
Vande Kieft’s trial is scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 11th.
Meanwhile, court records indicate that 46-year old Shannon Nagel, and 38-year old Sheila Nagel are both charged with Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, a class B felony; Possession with intent to deliver marijuana and Failure to affix a drug tax stamp, both class D felonies; Possession of a controlled substance- methamphetamine and Possession of a controlled substance- marijuana, both serious misdemeanors; and Possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports the charges stem from a search warrant carried out at a rural George residence in late July.
At this point the trial for the Nagels is also scheduled to start on Tuesday, October 11th.
