Des Moines, Iowa — A northwest Iowa lawmaker will continue in a position of leadership in the state legislature.
District 1 State Representative John Wills, a Republican from Spirit Lake was re-elected by fellow House Republicans as a House Majority Assistant Leader.
Wills says that he is honored and humbled to be elected by his peers to serve as an Assistant Leader for the Republican Caucus. He says he is excited for the upcoming session where House Republicans will “…continue to create job opportunities, reduce burdensome regulations on Iowa businesses, and balance the budget by spending less than the state collects.”
Wills also says he’d like to thank his constituents in House District 1 for the honor of representing them in the Republican Caucus and in the Iowa House.
Wills was just elected to serve his second term in the Iowa House. He has served as an Assistant Leader since 2015 and was previously the Vice Chairman of the House Environmental Protection Committee.
When not serving in the Legislature, he is the Clean Water Coordinator for the Dickinson County Soil and Water Conservation District in Spirit Lake, where he lives with his wife, Cami. The Wills have three adult children.
