Northwest Iowa — Temperatures in our area have gone from one extreme to the other the past several days, with temperatures behaving like a yo-yo.
Jeff Chapman is a meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Sioux Falls, and he says the yo-yo temperature cycles are due to upper atmosphere flow patterns.
Chapman says the yo-yo factor in temperatures is expected to continue…at least for the short term.
Chapman says no matter whether we’re in a cold or a warm pattern, there’s no significant precipitation in sight for northwest Iowa.
